Choosing a location for marine electronics

Choose a location where the screen is easy to see while operating the boat. Check that you can reach the controls and connections without the device obstructing your view, movement or other instruments.

Before drilling, read the installation requirements for the specific device. Follow the manual for clearances, ventilation and protection from water. Check behind the mounting surface and leave access for servicing.

Plan protected cable routing according to the instructions, avoiding pinching, tension and sharp bends. Use the specified connections and protective devices. If installation affects the electrical system or you are unsure about the work, use a qualified installer. Check operation before heading onto the water.
